Welcome To My Portfolio!!

I'm Happy You're Here!!

I am Tyler Melton (or RaceAceTM) and I am a current student studying Game Development at Rogers State University in Claremore Oklahoma. I have been very interested in Game Programming since I was young, and have since worked hard to reach for better understandings of what it takes to be a game developer.

Recent Projects!

The Cozy Autumn Game Jam (2023) is wrapping up, and with a few people on my team, we are getting ready to submit this project. I was the game coordinator, as I created the idea for the game, Coded the entirety of the game, wrote most of the story, recruited other people to help, managed tasks to ensure delivery, and ensured success of the game. This was my second Game Jam I have ever done, and It was a very good time, so I plan to do many, many more in the future! Updates will appear here after the Jam is over and I get to see how the results turn out!

Rogers State Game Jam (2022) is a game jam that I did that my school's esports team hosted, which I am a big part of. It was my first game I have ever made, and inspired me to make many games since. This was my first game that I ever submitted as well, and as I do not submit most of my personal projects online, I was proud to submit this one after working on it, going into it not knowing what the process was like, and learning a great deal from the experience.

What Makes Me a Good Candidate?

Why I believe I would be a good fit for your development company

Hungry To Learn

There is nothing I enjoy more than trying new things and seeing what I can do. I enjoy making games because I love the challenge of figuring out new problems, and getting the satisfaction at the end of it all when I see the final result, and so I have been constantly looking for any way I possibly can to learn anything I can about the industry, whether it be through Youtube tutorials about how to make a game, Tutorials about how to make a game engine, extra classes online to learn more about programming, doing Game Jams to learn about the pipeline of making the games, trying out HackerRank to brush up on some of my technical skills, and much more, I am very hungry to learn more, and willing to accept any and all advice on how to improve.

Hard Working

I am no stranger to hard work, as I come from a background of playing many competitive sports, between basketball, baseball, soccer, and Cross Country. I ran Cross Country through college, and constantly pushed myself to be the best version of myself that I could be, which gave me a very competitive, and constantly pushing and griding personality. I love to work hard and see the results of my efforts.

Creative Solutions

I am a very unique thinker, as I approach most programming from multiple angles, to try to find the best solution. I love using other people to bounce ideas off of and work together to figure out solutions, and individually I love to find new and creative ways to overcome certain obstacles.

Collaborative Approach

I love to collaborate with other people, whether it be other programmers, artists, composers, writers, etc and talk to them about how and why they do what they do, as I like to know more about everything in the industry that I can, as I believe it can make me a better developer in the long run. My most recent project, for the Cozy Autumn Game Jam, I had 7 total people on my team, for a two week project. 7 People would not typically be a lot, but for a 2 week project it was very nice to have, as it took the weight of different tasks off of what would usually make the jam much more stressful!
